Saint OlgaOrthodox Church

A new Antiochian Orthodox mission church rising among the hills of Brentwood, Tennessee.

A mission is born

St. Olga Orthodox Church is a new mission community, birthed from St. Ignatius of Antioch in Franklin.

We are an Antiochian Orthodox mission gathering in Brentwood, taking as our patroness St. Olga of Alaska — the first female Orthodox saint of North America, a midwife and healer remembered for bringing comfort to the suffering.

The Very Rev. Fr. Phillip Begley, senior priest, oversees the mission as we prepare our new home and begin the rhythm of Orthodox worship in Williamson County. Whether you are Orthodox, exploring the ancient faith, or simply curious — you are welcome here.

St. Olga of Alaska

Matushka of All Alaska · Glorified June 19, 2025

“God can create great beauty out of complete desolation.” — Words attributed to St. Olga

A Yup'ik Mother

Olga Michael was born in 1916 in Kwethluk, Alaska, where she lived her whole life among her Yup'ik family and neighbors. A priest's wife — a matushka — she was known simply as "mom" to her village, chopping wood and carrying water while raising her children.

Midwife & Healer

A skilled midwife who welcomed countless babies into the world, she had a particular gift for caring for women carrying grief and trauma. She offered them deep kindness and quiet healing, lifting shame from those who suffered.

First Saint of Her Kind

After her death in 1979, accounts of her intercession spread across Alaska and the world. In 2025 she was glorified as the first female Orthodox saint of North America and the first Yup'ik saint — a comfort to all wounded in heart and soul.
